You can’t go wrong with camping in the woods but these grounds were so beautiful! I’m so glad to get introduced to this awesome spot. The drive from Berkeley wasn’t bad - as long as you leave at a time to avoid Sacramento traffic. We stopped in North San Juan to pick up a couple sandwiches and a smoothie at the Ridge Cafe and couldn’t resist taking a few photos of the tiny town. The camp grounds were awesome. Secluded, full of trees with a beautiful outlook a few blocks away. One of the best parts of this location is spending the day at Hoyt Crossing for some light hiking and swimming.

Sometimes you just have to get out of your city! I knew nothing about Lassen National Park but was very excited to learn about it, especially since it wasn't too far from Berkeley (3.5 hours). I decided late the night before that I wanted to make this trip so I headed out bright and early the next day, without doing much research. Lesson learned!
